Women’s Snowboard Week Aspen/Snowmass

FIRST EVER 2003 WOMEN’S SNOWBOARD WEEK AT ASPEN/SNOWMASS, APRIL 5-12

ASPEN/SNOWMASS, Colo. — On April 5-12, 2003, the Snowboard School of Aspen will host the inaugural 2003 Women’s Snowboard Week. The one-of-a-kind active lifestyle/adventure vacation package combines snowboarding with yoga, Pilates, spa and deluxe accommodations. This unique program was created by former TransWorld SNOWboarding magazine editor Alison Berkley for healthy, fit women who crave adventure and want to try snowboarding but have not found the right environment.

“This is the ultimate program for today’s woman who is active and health conscious, but also wants to have fun and add a little spice to her life by trying something new, says Berkley. “And of course, she also likes to be pampered. You simply cannot find a better destination than Aspen/Snowmass to enjoy all these elements at once.

Forty women will snowboard in a mellow, easy-paced setting with top-notch professionals from the Ski & Snowboard Schools of Aspen. The active-lifestyle package also includes a wide variety of fitness classes, personal trainers, nutrition advice, and spa treatments at the world-renowned Aspen Club & Spa. Accommodations provided by the four-star St. Regis Aspen are within walking distance to the Aspen Mountain Gondola as well as all the shopping, nightlife, and glamour that only Aspen/Snowmass has to offer.

At the end of the week, celebrate with a party and fashion show that will be open to the public for a minimum $25 donation. All proceeds will be donated to Boarding for Breast Cancer.

“After working in the snowboarding industry for many years, I understand why women can be so intimidated by the sport, says Berkley. “When I taught snowboarding at Snowmass last year I saw how successful this program was for teaching beginners from all walks of life. I wanted to take that a step further by creating a program that would provide the perfect environment for women who want to try snowboarding and experience other activities and amenities that I knew they’d love-kind of like icing on the cake.

Forty spaces maximum are on sale now for April 5-12, first-come, first-served. A fee of $2,500 includes lodging, airfare, snowboarding instruction, lift tickets and use of the facilities at The Aspen Club & Spa.
