Conditions at Wolf Creek are great despite the lower than usual snowfall! It was a last minute decision to open the ski area on Saturday, November 12 with only Nova Lift. The weekend storm brought in 6 inches of wet snow that got Nova running followed by Treasure Chairlift on Sunday. Bonanza is scheduled to open Thursday mid-morning. Wolf Creek had 130 happy skiers and boarders on Saturday, and over 200 on Sunday — not bad for a quick jump-start.
Wolf Creek has received over 34 inches of snow since October — not quite what we have been seeing over the past few years but still enough to have fun with. There are a number of early season obstacles – so skiers and boarders are reminded to use caution on the mountain.
The Ski School is available for ski and board lessons with both private and group instruction; the Wolf Pup Program is open and operating for children ages 5 to 8 with special facilities just for kids. The Wolf Creek Lodge is open serving a full menu for lunch and snacks. The Ski and Board rental departments are open along with Treasure Sports.
The Bonanza chairlift, opening Thursday mid-morning, will provide lift service to Divide Trail, Powder Puff Valley, Upper and Lower Windjammer. Beginner and intermediate skiers/boarders will enjoy these trails with more terrain opening as it becomes available. Currently Tranquility, Bonanza Road, Treasure Falls, Upper and Lower Treasure are open for those who enjoy getting out on the mountain to check out the early season skiing. Four inches of new snow on Tuesday morning improved conditions while we wait for more. Expert terrain including: Montezuma Bowl over to Step Bowl is open; Alberta Face, a local favorite is open to challenge experienced skiers.
Wolf Creek is offering discounted rates of $30.00 for Adults and $17.00 for seniors and children until more of the mountain opens.
Skiers and boarders are reminded to “think snow so that Mother Nature preserves Wolf Creek’s reputation for great early season skiing!
