WHITEFISH, MONT. – December 8, 2016 – A Wednesday opening brought out a faithful troop of skiers and snowboarders for this year’s Opening Day at Whitefish Mountain Resort. The ski area opened on time with five chairlifts including Chair 1 with access to the summit and North Side terrain. In spite of sub-zero temperatures, over 1,500 people enjoyed the slopes more than expected for a cold, weekday opening.
“We were pleased with this year’s opening and all the dedicated skiers and snowboarders who braved the cold to celebrate the beginning of the season,” Whitefish Mountain Resort CEO Dan Graves said. “I would personally like to congratulate our employees for all the work they put in to make Opening Day successful. From our grooming and snowmaking crews for making the slopes ski well to our front line staff in our skier services and restaurants and ski patrol who managed to open additional terrain throughout the day.”
Whitefish Mountain Resort was set to open with top-to-bottom terrain with the Russ’s Street run, and before the end of the day ski patrol opened additional terrain in the North Bowl and East Rim areas. With cold temperatures snowmaking crews are working around-the-clock to making snow in the terrain parks and beginner areas.
With limited terrain open daily ticket prices will be reduced to $62 for adults ages 19-64, $58 for teens 13-18 and seniors 65-69 and $35 for ages 7-12. Super seniors 70 & over and children 6 & under are free. Learn to Ski & Ride and other beginner lessons will begin as more beginner terrain becomes available. Full-priced tickets will be reinstated as additional terrain opens.
The resort is offering a special early season package, “Home for the Holidays,” allows guests that buy four or more nights to get 25 percent off lodging and lift tickets for the nights of December 19-24. The offer is based on availability call 877-SKI-
