Santa Fe Springs, California—The 2nd Annual Vans Cup at Tahoe is set to draw the world’s best snowboarders, including many Olympians such as Shaun White, Danny Kass, Mason Aguirre, Hannah Teter, Elena Hight, Gretchen Bleiler and Doriane Vidal, to Northstar-at-Tahoe March 3-5. The contingent of snowboarding’s brightest will include luminaries such as Antti Autti, Andreas Wiig and Tara Dakides and has to be considered the most important professional snowboarding competition on the West Coast this season with nearly every big name in the sport in attendance and a total prize purse of more than $200,000. The Vans Cup at Tahoe will air on Fox Sports Net in two parts at 3 pm April 28 and May 5 with re-broadcasts on May 12 and May 19.

The weekend kicks off Friday night with Wyatt Caldwell, last year’s big winner with titles in both Rail and Slopestyle, taking on all comers under the lights in a Rail jam session. Action continues Saturday with the Slopestyle comp and caps off on Sunday with Superpipe.

The event, which is free and open to the public, is sure to draw a huge crowd to Northstar-at-Tahoe. Those without lift tickets can receive a free gondola ticket thanks to Tylenol.

All of the Vans Tahoe Cup courses will be built by Northstar’s renowned terrain park designers, Chris “Gunny” Gunnarson and Josh Chauvet from Snow Park Technologies (SPT). SPT has designed and constructed courses and parks for some of the biggest snowboard events worldwide, including ESPN’s Winter X-Games, the World Championships of Snowboarding, Japan Slopestyle, and Burton’s U.S. Open and European Open.
