$150 Million Development Plan Advances
Santiago, Chile, May 2012 — Valle Nevado ski resort, a visionary leader in resort development in South America, will launch the country’s first ski resort gondola on opening day of the 2012 season on June 29. The gondola will feature 70 six-person cabins and will operate from the base of Valle Nevado’s new day visitor parking lot and service center “Curva 17,” lifting skiers and snowboarders quickly and conveniently to the mountain restaurant Bajo Zero in the center of the resort. The gondola is part of a 10-year, $150 million Master Development Plan that will eventually create a Mountain Village at the base of the resort.
Bajo Zero restaurant will be expanded to include more than 3,000 square feet of new outdoor dining area, so that more guests can enjoy lunch basking in the sun and take in stunning Andean views — including non-skiers, who can now reach the restaurant via the new gondola. The resort’s new Curva 17 service area will also reach stage two (of three stages) to include 500 parking spaces, equipment rental, ticket sales, ski and snowboard school sign-up, lockers, a Valle Nevado store, a restaurant and a cafe.
Valle Nevado is South America’s most modern and largest ski resort, with access to more than 7,000 acres of terrain for all levels of skiers. The resort also offers the continent’s best heliskiing deep into the peaks of the Andes, the world’s 2nd-highest mountains. Valle Nevado offers three contemporary hotels, private condo rentals, 6 restaurants, bars & pubs, apres ski activities, and a deluxe spa & fitness center. Skiers and snowboarders may also visit for the day to Valle Nevado, located just 90 minutes from Santiago and 37 miles from the Santiago airport.
The 2012 season begins June 29 and runs until October 2.
