Ultimate Boarder announces Team Competition
2009 Event information, Ultimate Boarder featured on Fuel TV’s The Daily Habit
Santa Barbara, CA … Ultimate Boarder spices up this year’s snow, surf, and skate
triathlon style competition by adding both a male and female TEAM element. Friends, coworkers,
professionals, and amateurs will join forces to compete for bragging rights and
the first place team prize of $5,000 alongside solo athletes competing for the Ultimate
Boarder championship title and a first place prize of $30,000 / $67,000 total purse.
“With the vibe of the event being so positive last year, the team element just felt like the
next logical step to get more athletes involved,” said founder Tim Hoover. “I want to be the
first 3 board sport pro. Being the Ultimate Boarder Champion is my dream,” said 14 yearold
competitor Nathan Groff. Registration for both the solo and team elements is live now
Notable confirmed teams include Team Volcom: Tyler Flanagan (Snow), Andrew Doheny
(Surf), Louie Lopez (Skate), Team Hurley: Mads Jonsson (Snow), Dillion Perillo (Surf),
Curren Caples (Skate), Team Freestyle Watches: Jake Black (Snow), Cory Lopez (Surf),
Sky Siljeg (Skate), and Team Lost Clothing: Forrest Shearer (Snow), Aaron Cormican
(Surf), and Kyle Berard (Skate).
Notable confirmed solo athletes include Todd Richards (Encinitas, CA), Aaron Astorga
(San Diego, CA), Shayne Pospisil (Manasquan, NJ), Tosh Townend (Huntington Beach,
CA), Mike Morrissey (Laguna Beach, CA), John John Florence (Haleiwa, HI), Jason Collins
(Santa Cruz, CA), Omar Hassan (Newport Beach, CA), Adam Taylor (Cocoa Beach, FL),
and Chad Shetler (Dana Point, CA).
Throughout the competition there will be autograph signings, interactive vendor booths, a
kids fun zone, street skate course, live musical performances, film premieres, and more.
This year the Ultimate Boarder Championship will take place Friday, April 3rd through
Saturday, April 11th. The snow stage will kick off Saturday, April 4th at Big Bear Mountain.
The surfing stage will take place at C Street/ Ventura on Monday, April 6th through
Thursday, April 9th with a four-day waiting period. The finals and skate stage will start
Friday, April 10th at the Ventura County Fairgrounds, and the award ceremony will
conclude the competition on Saturday, April 11th.
Events surrounding the competition:
Thursday, April 9th Ultimate Boarder will screen two showings of Transworld Surf’s film, A
Fly In The Champagne, a documentary featuring Andy Irons and Kelly Slater. Ultimate
Boarder has also partnered with Youth for Mobility during the Saturday, April 11th event
finale celebration. Proceeds will benefit the Free Wheelchair Mission

FUEL TV’s The Daily Habit will feature Ultimate Boarder Founder Tim Hoover and reigning
world champion, Aaron Astorga Thursday, February 19th 6:00 PM PST/ 9:00 EST. Later
this summer Ultimate Boarder will produce a one-hour show for FUEL TV with a primetime
premiere in June 2009 reaching over 50 million homes.
