Portland, Maine ……. Carlisle Sports Management announced today a new deal between Nokia and Tricia Byrnes, the overall number one ranked FIS half-pipe female rider in the world.
Byrnes is the third U.S. rider and the only female that Nokia has chosen to be a part of its World Team. In choosing Byrnes, Nokia rounds out its American roster and enhances its efforts with its title sponsorship of the Nokia Snowboard FIS World Cup.
“Nokia wanted to expand its athlete associations this year and we felt that Tricia, being one of the best half-pipe riders in the world, would give us another natural fit and help to advance our entrance into the free-riding disciplines,” comments Stuart Flowers, account director at Worldwide Promotions in Belgium ¿ Nokia’s sports marketing firm.
“This is my first year with Nokia,” says Byrnes. “From what I understand, they are a very active sponsor and really work with and involve the athletes they sign with. I am very much looking forward to working with them…. it will be an exciting year,” she continued.
Byrnes lives and trains at Stratton in Vermont. At 25, she is a member of the U.S. “A Team” and has plans to compete in a tour of world-wide events this coming season.
