Cape Elizabeth, Maine — Carlisle Sports Management announced today a new exclusive relationship between Lamar Snowboards and Tricia Byrnes, the overall number one ranked FIS halfpipe female rider in the world.

Of particular importance in the first year of the three-year deal is the development of a signature board series for women riders. Byrnes is working with Lamar technical and creative developers to design a special series of snowboards complete with a variety of custom cosmetics.

The Merlot Series by Tricia Byrnes will be available in the 2000- ’01 season and will consist of four all-mountain boards that have a freestyle flair. The sizes will range from 143 to 155.

Why Byrnes? “Tricia is one of the best half-pipe riders in the world–who can argue with that,” says John West, Lamar product manager. “We believe she has tremendous Olympic potential for 2002. That’s a big plus for us,” he continued.

Byrnes is excited about this deal as well. “Lamar is a very professional and enthusiastic company. It’s nice to feel like you are working on a project together. I’ve worked with a lot of companies before, and this one, by far, feels like a real partnership. They are interested in what I have to say, and that’s important to me,” she says.

Custom designing graphics for boards is new for Byrnes. “This is a totally new thing for me. I’ve always thought about what I would do for graphics if I could design my own board. But what you might think would look good doesn’t,” she quips, after coming out of a design meeting this week at Lamar. “We sat down and came up with some interesting concepts–it’s great to work with artists, they can make things look cool no matter what,” she continued.

Byrnes lives and trains at Stratton in Vermont. At 25, she is a member of the U.S. “A Team” and has plans to compete in a tour of world-wide events this coming season.
