Travis Rice Catches a Ride with ORACLE TEAM USA
Travis Rice took a break from chasing powder to taste the ocean spray when he sailed with ORACLE TEAM USA as a guest racer during the first day of racing in the America’s Cup World Series in San Francisco on Thursday, Aug. 23. Rice rode onboard the ORACLE TEAM USA AC45 with skipper Jimmy Spithill and crew during fleet racing in the San Francisco Bay. As background, Travis has a passion for sailing and recently spent time sailing from the Chesapeake Bay to Grenada.
NBC will carry 90 minutes of live coverage of the America’s Cup World Series on Sunday starting at 11:30am PT/2:30 pm ET from San Francisco. ORACLE TEAM USA started the weekend with a pair of wins in the first two fleet races of the first stop in the 2012-13 America’s Cup World Series season. Skipper Jimmy Spithill and crew opened with a win in the match racing quarterfinals, and followed with a first-place finish in the second fleet race. Skipper Russell Coutts led off the fleet racing with a win. ORACLE TEAM USA SPITHILL and ORACLE TEAM USA COUTTS now sit 1-2, respectively, after the first day of fleet racing in their home city.

The Jackson, WY local has unveiled a slew of new tricks, including the first double backside rodeo 1080 in competition, while establishing new benchmarks in big-mountain riding.
