Oceanside, CA—The 2007 TransWorld SNOWboarding TransAm contest series produced by High Cascade Snowboard Camp continues on February 17, 2007 on the slopes of Winter Park, CO. For more information, including registration, visit www.transworldsnowboarding.com
TransWorld SNOWboarding TransAm Series is a unique amateur only snowboard competition sponsored by some of the most respected brands in the industry including Ride, Oakley, Zumiez, DaKine, Allyance, and Freebord. The six stop series serves as a launch pad for up-and-coming amateur riders offering them the opportunity to win great prizes. Top performers at each tour stop will advance to the finals where they will compete for the chance to go head-to-head against an elite group of the nation’s best professional riders at the TransWorld Team Challenge on April 5 and 6 at Heavenly resort at Lake Tahoe, CA.
“If you’re always telling your friends that you could go pro this is a great place to test that theory, said Kurt Hoy, TransWorld SNOWboarding’s chief content director. “Bottom line though, it’s a fun day, you’ll go home with some cool product and maybe you’ll prove to everyone that you really are the best rider at your resort.
Like all TransWorld SNOWboarding TransAm events, this one will start with a 1.5 mile Traffic Jam where all riders hike and ride The Slope Style course together. During the Traffic Jam, the judges will pick the 40 riders to advance to the Ultimate Jam, by presenting them with a coveted T-shirt/bib Hybrid. A panel of esteemed snowboarding judges will check out the action from the slopes, naming the winners after the half-hour long Ultimate Jam.Riders who don’t advance to the Ultimate Jam will still have a vote because they will come together to become the “World’s Largest Judging Panel and vote on the Rider’s Choice Award for Best Overall Nutty Extreme Rider, a.k.a. the prestigious B.O.N.E.R. Award. There will also be a post-event Product Barf where riders and spectators will win fabulous prizes.
Prizes include: A Ride snowboard, a Freebord, Allyance puffy jackets, and DaKine wheelie board bags for the first-place riders; DaKine packs, Oakley custom-made TransWorld SNOWboarding TransAm goggles, and Zumiez gift certificates for the top three male and female riders. Don’t forget, with each $10 entry fee, every kid is a winner because they will receive a limited edition TransWorld SNOWboarding beanie, a Mission Pack that will include a one-year subscription to TransWorld SNOWboarding magazine and a variety of swag from sponsors.
