Big Bear Lake, California—With less than two weeks until The Park Wide Open #3 (Wide Open), the hard-working Bear Mountain park staff has been busy building up jumps and installing new features for what will be an amazing setup for snowboarders and skiers.

“We are all very amped for the Wide Open; it’s our big banger event of the season when we are able to build the features we guarantee people won’t want to miss, explained Clayton Shoemaker, Bear Mountain team rider and builder. “The last two seasons we have had unlimited snow to work with and this season it is all about snowmaking, which has allowed the park staff to be extremely creative with coming up with new ideas for riding surfaces. The park staff has spent the last year putting our heads together to make this Wide Open better than ever! added Shoemaker.

In its third year, the Wide Open is a weeklong snowboarding and freeskiing extravaganza complete with contests, photo shoots, giveaways and plenty of surprises. Bear Mountain, the nation’s first all-mountain freestyle park, hosts the seven-day event and invites media, industry folk and pros to come visit the resort and see why BBMR is a leader in freestyle snowboarding and skiing.

The Wide Open is an open invitation to the snowboard and freeski industry to come to Bear Mountain sometime over the course of the 7-day event and take part in several fun competitions and to film and photograph professional and amateur riders and skiers at the nation’s first all-mountain freestyle park. The Park at Bear Mountain will be in top form for the Wide Open, with various features including: a Zaugg-cut, 17-foot-high, 580-feet-long superpipe; a standard 12-foot-high halfpipe; a new pool wall ride; two 50-foot rails; a channel gap; a moto tube; an S-rail; a C-box; a 20-foot high, 20-foot wide wall ride dubbed the “acid drop; four tabletop jumps; two large step-down jumps; numerous unique junkyard creations and more! The Scene, Bear Mountain’s network of jibs set at the base of the resort, is also getting a makeover and will have an entirely new setup for the Wide Open.

You’re invited … come up and ride!
