YOSEMITE, Calif.–Oct. 27, 1999–Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite celebrates the first winter of the century with ski free packages and reduced room rates from January 3 through April 2, 2000.
The Tenaya Lodge Ski Free package includes a deluxe room (Sunday through Thursday) and two all-day lift tickets at nearby Badger Pass Ski Area (Monday through Friday) for $119 per room, per night. Seasonal winter rates at the lodge start at $89 per room, per night.
Located just inside Yosemite National Park and minutes from Tenaya Lodge, Badger Pass is one of California’s oldest ski areas offering 10 groomed runs and 135 kilometers of cross-country ski trails at a base elevation of 7,200 feet. Its terrain is roughly divided as 50% intermediate, 35% beginner and 15% advanced, and Badger Pass offers a dedicated snowboard park that includes a half-pipe.
Tenaya Lodge — the closest luxury resort to Badger Pass — is nestled at an elevation of 5,288 feet. Winter visitors are rewarded with a vacation experience that is positively “alternative” in every respect, from traffic-free roads and vistas to opportunities for trying new winter sports and money-saving room rates. And Tenaya Lodge’s ever-attentive service is at its most personalized during the property’s relatively quieter winter months.
With massive natural stone fireplaces ablaze with pine and cedar and soaring windows framing snowy forest scenes, Tenaya Lodge is an enchanting, cozy retreat into a winter wonderland. The Lodge offers winter activities for the entire family. A designated “Snow Play Area” is a two-minute drive from the Lodge, where kids can build snowmen, slide on inner-tubes, sled and toboggan, make snow angels and re-fuel with a picnic of sandwiches and hot chocolate.
A sightseeing tour of Yosemite Valley, cloaked in its winter topcoat of powder snow, can be followed up by an afternoon of ice skating in the shadow of Half Dome. High-tech snowshoe and cross-country ski equipment can be booked at Tenaya Lodge’s Activities Desk. A good book enjoyed in front of a cozy fire or a dreamy massage and body treatment at Tenaya Lodge’s full-service spa will warm winter’s chill.
Tenaya Lodge is a deluxe mountain lodge resort located on California State Highway 41, just two miles from Yosemite’s most popular entrance — the South Gate — where year-round access and quick entrance to the park are guaranteed. Tenaya Lodge is 55 miles north of Fresno Yosemite International Airport, 3 1/2 hours from the San Francisco Bay Area and 4 1/2 hours from the greater Los Angeles area.
