TELLURIDE’S NEW REVELATION BOWL TO OPEN THIS WEEK
Storm Brings 17 Inches of Fresh Snow, More Lift Openings Wednesday

TELLURIDE, Colo. (Dec. 9, 2008) – With more than 17 inches of fresh powder in the last 48 hours, the Telluride Ski Resort announced Polar Queen Express (5) and Prospect Express (12) will open on Wednesday, December 10th. The new Revelation Lift (15) is tentatively planned to open with a ribbon cutting ceremony at the bottom terminal at 1 p.m. Wednesday, as conditions and control work allow. Shortly thereafter, for the first time ever, Telluride Ski Resort will open Revelation Bowl!

“Telluride’s expansion into Revelation Bowl is a significant change and addition to the ski experience at Telluride,” said Dave Riley, Telluride Ski Resort CEO. “Mountain Operations crews and Ski Patrol have been working overtime to provide new terrain openings for our guests – and 17 inches of fresh snow always helps.”

Runs off the Polar Queen Express and the Prospect Express (no hike-to access) will open for skiing and snowboarding, while Gold Hill Express will operate for access-only to See Forever until control work is completed. See Forever will be open from the top of Gold Hill back to the Village Bypass/Village Express. The additional terrain will provide more runs and powder stashes for skiers of all ability levels.

The Grand Opening of the new Hop Garden will take place on Friday and Saturday, with a poster signing by U.S. ski and snowboardcross athletes (3 p.m. – 5 p.m. Friday) and New Belgium Brewing on-hand. Telluride’s mid-mountain restaurant, Gorrono Ranch, will also open this week on Friday, as will High Camp Warming Hut.

Revelation Bowl is the biggest news in the ski industry for the 2008-2009 season. This European-style terrain, located directly off the back side of famous Gold Hill, will be served by a new, locally manufactured Leitner-Poma quad-lift. Situated above tree line, the natural, wide-open bowl offers advanced and expert runs in an unbelievably scenic setting.

“With new snow, conditions change overnight,” said Jeff Proteau, senior vice president of resort operations. “The favorable snow conditions are coming at the perfect time, right before the winter break.”
