Detroit, Tuesday, June 18, 2002 — Molson Snow Jam will return to Detroit this summer! The two-day event will return to the Comerica Park location in Foxtown on Friday, August 2 and Saturday, August 3, bringing with it a barrage of ramps, 150 tons of REAL snow, a huge crew of North America’s top action sports athletes, and an insane mix of bands featuring Filter, Unwritten Law, The Kickovers (featuring members of Weezer and Mighty Mighty Bosstones) and much more.
The two coolest days of summer will include snowboarders, freeskiers, BMX bikers, skateboarders and in-line riders competing on massive ramp structures, while the crowd rocks against a backdrop of leading edge live bands and DJ’s performing on the Molson Mainstage. The events will be rounded out with a Vendor Village that includes action sports displays, products and interactive games.

MOLSON ROCKS THE MAINSTAGE:
A sensational line-up of live and recorded music will be showcased on the Molson Mainstage. Look for Filter, Unwritten Law, The Kickovers (featuring members of Weezer and Mighty Mighty Bosstones), Juliana Theory, Mudmen and Lanternjack. The on-stage action will be supported by top DJ?s spinning throughout the weekend’s events.
COOL ACTION SPORTS. HOT COMPETITION:
At the soul of Molson Snow Jam, is a massive 60-foot high Quarter-Pipe, which features over 150 tons of REAL SNOW. Watch for amazing hits and tricks from a pre-selected field of professional snowboarders and freeskiers. The Molson Snow Jam Vert Ramp is the identical ramp featured at World Cup Skateboard contests and will host both “Big Hit” and “Super Session” contests throughout the two-day event. Skateboard, BMX and in-line riders will soar over 12-feet out of the ramp. This Pro-invitational event has a total cash prizing of $38,000 U.S. per event and will be awarded to winners throughout the weekend. Riders who have taken home the cash in the past include: BMX legends – Dave Osato, John Parker and Jay Miron; Snowboard sensations – Mike Michalchuk, Jonas Guinn and Keir Dillon; Freeskiing revolutionaries – Scott Hibbert, Rex Thomas and Andy Woods; Skateboarding chargers – Rob “Sluggo” Boyce, Josh Evin and Jay Stevason.

Molson Snow Jam will take over the parking lot at Comerica Park in Foxtown, Friday, August 2 from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Saturday, August 3 from 12:00 Noon to 10:00 p.m.

A weekend pass for Molson Snow Jam includes admission to the event on Friday and Saturday for one price at $10.00 plus service charges. Tickets will be $20.00 plus service charges at the gate.

Over 340,000 fans spun the turnstiles at Molson Snow Jam events in 2001, showing the strength of this awesome display of hucking, boarding and bmxing. After the enormous success of the eight-city tour, Molson is excited to announce that this summer, the city streets of Buffalo, Detroit, Calgary, Vancouver, Winnipeg, Albany, Toronto, Ottawa and Boston will be transformed into Molson Snow Jam events.
