STRATTON MOUNTAIN, Vermont
Skiers and riders give thanks for the first turns of a new season.
After months of anticipation, Stratton Mountain Resort is planning to spin
the lifts starting Wednesday, November 24, signaling the start of the
2010-2011 ski and snowboard season.
There is snow at the summit, frost on the windows and the smell of fresh
waffles in the air. Squirrels are gathering nuts for the winter, the last of
the foliage has faded and the mountain population has nearly tripled.
Stratton’s shops are receiving daily shipments of the latest in ski and
board apparel and the snowguns are primed.
Since before the first snowfall dropped on the summit in mid-October,
Stratton has been bustling in preparation of the 2010-2011 season, tuning
everything from the fleet of snow cats to the fleet of rental skis,
redesigning terrain park features and restaurant menus. The resort’s mad
scientists in snowmaking and grooming will be hard at work over the next few
weeks securing the top conditions for New England’s earliest thrill seekers.
Residents from Boston, New York and other locations no longer need to duel
with the airlines. Stratton is less than a tank of gas away, making for an
easy weekend escape or a hassle free vacation. Boasting an array of
affordable ski and stay packages, Stratton is now more accessible than ever.
Visit www.Stratton.com/Deals for more information on Season Passes, the X2
card and lift and lodging packages.

Watch the premier of the down to earth flick, Cheap Ski Movie, Friday at
6:00 pm in the West Wing of the Base Lodge. An epic, discount journey to
meet people and see places never considered for a corporate ski movie, our
heroes, Jonny and Lou are passionate, dedicated skiers of questionable
talent who aspire to cinematic glory. Their dream is to produce a ski and
snowboard movie in the genre of the legendary filmmaker, Warren Miller. The
problem is that Jonny and Lou are broke, have no equipment, and zero
connections or sponsors. Their dream will live on, however, even if they
can’t really be there in person. Jonny and Lou create life-size, cardboard
stand-ups of themselves and send them on a journey across America to make
Cheap Ski Movie. Their images may be fake but the places, people, and events
are real – the core, grassroots, heart of skiing and snowboarding. Cheap Ski
Movie is about fun – not money, status, image, or tradition. It’s a quest to
find the real meaning of skiing.
