St. Patty’s at Squaw

Squaw Valley, CA—Irish glee fills the air this coming weekend at Squaw Valley USA. Squaw Valleys celebrates St Patrick’s Day with spring skiing & riding, traditional Irish food, live music, mountain competitions and a shamrock scavenger hunt on March 16-18, 2007.

Patrick Callahan’s 23rd Annual Corned Beef Feed is on Friday, March 16 at the Olympic House Sundeck Tavern. From noon to 5 pm patrons can enjoy a plate of delicious corned beef and wash it down with a pint of signature green beer. The cost is $15 per person and the proceeds benefit Tahoe Adaptive Ski School.

On Saturday, March 17 St. Patrick’s Day begins with a traditional Irish breakfast at the Auld Dubliner. The perfect fuel for a day on the mountain, the Irish breakfast begins at 9am. The festivities continue through the day with live music by the Mark Castro Band, Boston Green and the Stately Gentlemen for only $5.

On St. Patrick’s Day Squaw Valley skiers and riders can get lucky by finding one of the many magnetic shamrocks hidden on the mountain. The Shamrock Scavenger Hunt begins when the lifts open and last until the last shamrock is found. Shamrocks can be redeemed for wonderful prizes from Squaw Valley USA and the Village at Squaw at High Camp’s Poolside Café. All winners also receive 2 for 1 lunch at the Poolside Café.

Alexander’s Bar & Restaurant at High Camp, el. 8,200′ hosts a St Patrick’s Day Dinner package that includes a scenic cable car ride and a traditional Irish feast of corned beef and cabbage. Diners take in the beauty of the setting sun and the bright moon over Lake Tahoe. The St. Patrick’s Day Dinner is from 4 pm to 8:30 pm and the cost is $35 per person. Live music can be heard at Squaw from the morning to night on St. Patty’s day, starting at 11:30 am with the Celtic funk sounds of San Francisco’s Akimbo in the Olympic House Plaza Bar. The après action is in the Village at Squaw’s Event Plaza from 3-5 pm with Zoo Station playing the complete U2 experience. The party continues into the next day at North Lake Tahoe’s hottest club, Zenbu with the Irish GO-GO Dance Party featuring T-Dub at 9 pm. For more information, check out
