Following the unanimous approval of Intrawests Village at Squaw Valley bythe Placer County Planning Commission on October 14th, 1999, Squaw Valleyand Intrawest have renewed the option to purchase land currently used bySquaw Valley as surface parking in order to convert it into a $250 millionself-contained pedestrian village to include condominiums, restaurants,shops and nightlife. The intent of the village is to create a place thatwill be the heart of the 21st century Squaw Valley resort and become the hubof excitement for the North Lake Tahoe area, states Tom Jacobson, VicePresident of Resort Development Group for Intrawest Squaw Corporation.

This summer, Intrawest will focus its efforts on Phase I, called FirstAscent, to include a total of 139 mountain homes and 19 boutique shops andrestaurants.
