Southshore Soldiers Camp Gears Up for Spring Break 2004

The Southshore Soldiers Snowboard Camp held annually at Heavenly Mountain Resort is less than one month away, with the first session beginning on March 8th. This will be the third year of the ‘spring break’ the med camp which focuses on providing a beneficial, action packed environment on and off the snow. Southshore Soldiers was started by veteran professional snowboarder and South Lake Tahoe Local Jimmy Halopoff. Halopoff’s professional resume includes everything from gold medals at the X-Games and Vans Triple Crown of Snowboarding, to being featured as a character in the video game ‘Shaun Palmer Pro Boarder.’ Along with Halopoff top professional snowboarders and skiers from around the world are at the camp each week, including Eddie Wall, Tara Dakides, Kevin Jones, Todd Richards, Olympic Medalists Danny Kass and Gian Simmen, and 6-time X-Games Gold Medalist Shaun Palmer.

Though there is sure to be a host of great pro riders at camp, the camp is dedicated to providing a non-intimidating, supportive learning environment for riders of all skill levels. The Southshore Soldiers private terrain park has everything from beginner specific jumps and rails to more challenging advanced features, making it the perfect place to learn and ride whether you are a rider looking to improve his carving, or jump and slide rails for the first time, or one looking to develop and polish his skills. Regardless of one’s ability level and goals, the private on hill facilities at Southshore Soldiers accommodate everyone.

The professional coaching staff, run by Heavenly Snowboard Team Head Coach & Program Director Ed McClain, is dedicated to helping each individual set his own goals and spend the week working to achieve them. Whether you are a first time beginner, an intermediate, or advanced rider looking to reach the professional level, Southshore Soldiers coaches use the best methods available including daily video analysis and special clinics to help you improve your riding. The coaching program and top rate private terrain park combined is a proven recipe for success.

After spending the day riding, campers get to relax and hang out with the pros in the private Soldiers Lounge at the Super 8 Motel. The Lounge is complete with big screen tv’s, video games, and pool and foosball tables. However, entertainment at camp goes far beyond the Lounge. Each session has three private camp parties with live bands or DJ’s and giveaways where over $15,000 in product is given away to campers weekly. For camp this year the party lineup will consist of live bands every Tuesday night at Stone St. Bar & Grill in Caesar’s, followed by Mechanical Bullriding with a DJ and product giveaways on Wednesday nights, and once again Soldiers Bowling Night with free bowling, DJ’s, and a huge raffle on Thursdays. Saturday March 13th, Unwritten law will be playing a show at Caesar’s Tahoe for Southshore Soldiers. The parties are a great time for campers to unwind, get to know the pros, win lots of product, and have fun!
