This past weekend, the Cypress Hill Smokeout Festival once again brought the kids together. 45,000 co-existing heads, ravers, punks, and rockers—all vibing to the same beats, dancing under the same lights, and breathing the same sweet, sweet air. The bill was stacked on both ends of the spectrum, with the likes of Atmosphere, Nas & Damian Marley, MGMT, Basement Jaxx, Paul Oakenfold, Erykah Badu, Slightly Stoopid, Manu Chao, headliners Incubus and DeadMau5, and the trump return of Cypress Hill. Check the photos below for more.
Highlights? Atmosphere ruling the crowd, even though Slug had a blown MCL. Nas & Damian leading a 30k+ bounce. Basement Jaxx’s DJ skills making photography virtually impossible. Paul Oakenfold trancing an entire generation. Incubus’ only festival stop of the year. The ageless Manu Chao and their 40,000 friends. And DeadMau5’s 2-hour shook DJ lesson, culminating with tens of thousands chanting “F—k you, I won’t do what you told me!” from the “Killing In The Name” Remix of Rage Against The Machine.
