Aspen/Snowmass, CO, March 27, 2008—The inaugural CoverGirl Snow Angels Invitational, offering over $20,000 in prize money, will take place in Snowmass, April 4-6, 2008. Gretchen Bleiler, Aspen/Snowmass Team Athlete and Olympian, dreamed up a weekend of photo shoots, competitions and activities for pro women snowboarders, and it’s coming to fruition during the last weekend of the eighth annual Bud Light Spring Jam.

Fifteen of the world’s best snowboarders will attend including Bleiler, Hannah Teter, Kelly Clark, Tricia Byrnes, Elena Hight, Molly Aguirre, Clair Bidez, Soko Yamaoka, Kaitlyn Farrington, Shiho Nakashima, Ellery Hollingsworth, Paulina Ligocka, Lizzy Beerman, Meg Pugh and Manuela Pesko.

“This event will be the perfect way to end the season and bring everyone together to ride, hang out and have some fun,” says Bleiler. “The weekend is turning out to be even bigger and better than I expected thanks to the support of the sponsors and Aspen/Snowmass. I can’t wait.”

A session in the superpipe and quarterpipe kicks-off the weekend on Friday, April 4, from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. in Snowmass with viewing open to the public.

The action continues at the Snowmass superpipe and quarterpipe on Saturday, April 5, with a competition from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. The competition will include a jam session contest with full superpipe runs, followed by a one-hit contest awarding the rider with the best trick.

On Sunday, April 6, the athletes will have a photo shoot at the Snowmass superpipe and quarterpipe from 10 a.m.–2 p.m., with viewing open to the public.  Several pros will also teach the Snow Angels Terrain Park Boot Camp on Fanny Hill from 12 – 3 p.m. The Boot Camp welcomes new rail and park riders (both skiers and snowboarders) to learn from top coaches and pros.

The CoverGirl Snow Angels Invitational is more than a simple superpipe competition. The weekend will feature a welcome reception, spa activities, yoga, environmental workshops, cooking workshops and a night out on the town for the athletes.

The Oakley Girls Night Out at Fly Lounge will be on Saturday, April 5 and will open to the public at 11 p.m. with a $5 cover charge. A portion of the proceeds will benefit an environmental foundation of Gretchen’s choice.

Aspen/Snowmass would like to thank the partners that made this event possible: CoverGirl, Oakley, Herbal Essences, Dr. Hauschka Holistic Home Remedies, Mission Product, Nike, Snowmass Village and The Villas at Snowmass Club.

The eighth annual Bud Light Spring Jam is the Rocky Mountains’ premier spring celebration with concerts, competitions and parties March 21-23, March 28-30 and April 4-6. For more information please visit www.aspensnowmass.com.

I booked my room at the Keystone Inn in Keystone, Colorado. They are offering a 2 night stay w/ two days of riding at Keystone Resort for only $102 per person for the total package. Hopefully that massive storm that is brewing in the Gulf of Alaska will make it’s way across the Mid-West and drop a nice little blanket of about 3ft in Colorado the day before I arrive…now wouldn’t that be nice!!!
