Dubai—Ski Dubai, the first indoor ski resort in the Middle East, announced the introduction of top level snowboard training in the UAE, with the launch of a series of summer camps sponsored by Burton, a legend in the sport.
The Burton Snowboarding Camps took place from August 5 to 9 at Ski Dubai at Mall of the Emirates. The five-day camps were conducted by Ski Dubai’s resident instructors and two of Burton’s best global riders – Gigi Ruf, and Sani Alibabic.
Fuad Al Najjar, general manager for Ski Dubai, said: “This is a one-off opportunity for snowboarders in the region to take their skills to the highest level. We are offering instruction by Ski Dubai’s qualified instructors for the first two days of the camp and the Burton riders joined the training sessions for the next two days.
“To wind up the camp there was a three-hour freestyle session to showcase the freestyle skills guests learnt in the course, and allow them the opportunity to ride with professional riders.
He added: “Burton’s team includes many of the world’s best snowboarders. They dominate all aspects of the sport and are recognised as ahead of the rest for anything from half pipes and rail jams to backcountry descents in Alaska and slope style contests. This is why we have invited them to Dubai. They have opened a window of opportunity for snowboard enthusiasts at Ski Dubai to develop their skills and learn new tricks.
The riders are looking forward to returning to the slope in Dubai, after this unique experience.
The Burton snowboarding camps are open to kids, teens and adults and are supported by the Kempinski Hotel, Sezzam and Snow Pro.
