Lincoln, NH—The call of Loon Mountain is in the air and welcoming New England’s best park riders to take part in the Fifth Annual Shop Showdown. The jib, jump and pipe event will take place this Saturday, March 10, and is only open to shop employees and team riders.

Fat Trax, from Massachusetts, will defend their title as reigning champ against competing shops like Eastern Boarder (MA & NH), Lahouts (NH), Theory Snowboard Shop (MA), Ride 207 (ME), NuWave (NH) and No School (VT). The contest is open to the first 20 teams of two – if the shop has more than one location they can send one additional team.

Registration is from 8:30 to 10 a.m. in the Bunyan Room, located in the Octagon Lodge, and is followed by a riders meeting at 10:30 a.m. at the Yurt in the Loon Mountain Park. Registration is $60 per team and includes lift tickets, lunch and event fee’s. Teams will be judged as they hit rails/boxes, the Superpipe and mogul field/jump setup. Riders will earn points on overall impression based on style, degree of difficulty and execution. Teams can also earn bonus points by wearing matching outfits; jackets, pants, hats, goggles, jerseys, suits, etc. and the most haggard gear possible is recommended for the costume contest.

Teams are competing for prizes & trophies from Oakley, Foursquare and Forum. Plenty of Red Bull will also be available to quench the thirst of all riders. The winning team receives a free stay at Northstar and the coveted team trophy. Other prizes include a two-night stay at the Mountain Club on Loon (includes four 2-day lift tickets) and cash.

Rules for the contest are as follows:

- Each team and team rider must compete on all 3 obstacles.

- Each rider is allowed to snake as much as they wish.

- Riders must wear some steeze on back leg to recognize switch riding.

- Riders must wear bibs at all times during runs and for line cutting privileges.

Loon Mountain, rated the #1 resort in the east by Transworld Snowboarding readers, has five parks up and running, including the #6 nationally ranked Loon Mountain Park, Superpipe and Burton Progression Park. Upcoming events include Shredding for Shelter on March 11, Last Call with Eastern Boarder on March 21, Slush Pool Party on April 7 and Hike and Huck on May 5 – tentatively.
