Season’s Largest Winter Storm Drops Close To Two Feet Of New Snow At Mountain high

Wrightwood, California—The season’s largest winter storm dropped close to two feet of new snow at Mountain High this Saturday and Sunday. The entire West Resort and the majority of the East Resort are now open with pristine powder and packed powder conditions. More than 200 acres are currently available and there are lifts and trails for all ability levels. All roads in and out of the Wrightwood area are open and clear with no restrictions however Mountain High always recommends carrying chains when traveling in the winter mountains.

The West Resort is filled with everything from wide-open beginner areas to gladed tree skiing hideaways to challenging black diamond trails. Its biggest draw, however, is its terrain parks. Jumps and jibs blanket nearly the entire West Resort making it a paradise for freestyle skiers and snowboarders. Just a short shuttle ride away, the East Resort is somewhat of an undiscovered treasure with cruising trails more than a mile and a half long, breathtaking views of the Mojave Desert, and family-oriented areas at the top. Rising as high as 8,200 feet, the East Resort offers traditional skiers and snowboarders a true alpine experience without having to journey far from home. Each base area is complete with ticket windows, restaurants, sport shops, rentals, and more. Lift tickets are interchangeable and can be used at either resort any day, including holidays. Mountain High is currently evaluating its new North Resort and will open it shortly if conditions permit. Guests are advised to log onto Mountain High’s website for the latest information. While there they can also get updated snow reports, weather forecasts and see live video of the mountain.

Says John McColly, Director of Marketing, “This is the one we have been waiting for. We now fully expect to be open well into April.

If you are an alpine skier or carving snowboarder who likes long, sweeping turns and uncrowded slopes, the East Resort is for you. The terrain is unlike that of any other resort in Southern California, and you cannot beat the trees through Pier Shot on a powder day. If terrain parks are your forte however, the West Resort offers more than you could possibly imagine. Jumps and jibs can be found on almost every trail and right now every single feature is on the hill. It is the center of Mountain High’s social schema and the place to perform, especially after the sun goes down. Mountain High is the only local resort open for night skiing every evening from 5pm to 10pm.
