Ruby Mountain Helicopter Experience is currently offering a discounted package for the rest of the 2009/2010 season. The package price will be $3,000 per seat, regularly $4,100. For those who’ve been thinking of riding in the Rubies, now is the time. Space is limited to 12 seats.
The riding in the Great Basin at Ruby Mountain Heli Experience has been really great this year. Minimal wind this season has helped conditions; four to six days after a storm they are still finding terrific cold-snow riding. They have been out 25 days in a row in the helicopter (some partial cat days) before they had even one solid day of cat riding.
Ruby also has a new website, www.helicopterskiing.com. They feature new video and still shots weekly.
The Nevada-based helicopter skiing operation prides itself in offering the perfect three-day recreational recharge. Located halfway between Salt Lake City and Reno, Ruby Mountain Heli-Experience features 11,000 foot-plus peaks, abundant untracked powder and gourmet cuisine. It’s accessible time-wise, with many direct commercial flights into Salt Lake City and Reno. Guests (many return yearly) here understand the value of an intimate alpine experience.
Guests are guaranteed 39,000 feet of vertical lift over their three-day stay. On the infrequent occasion when RMH is unable to access the terrain via helicopter due to weather, the day is not lost. RMH offers a snowcat skiing option to guests as an alternative.
After skiing guests settle into Reds Ranch, the operation’s 10-bedroom ranch house set on over 90 acres of ranchland at the base of the Ruby Mountains. Featuring a great room with massive stone fire place, library and billiards table, there is plenty of room for guests to stretch out and swap end-of-day ski tales.
