The countdown for the Roxy Chicken Jam 2008 is on! Many stars have confirmed their participation including Cheryl Maas (NED), Torah Bright (AUS), Kjersti Buaas Oestgaard (NOR), Jamie Anderson (USA) and Claudia Fliri (AUT). The best slopestylers in the world will enter the 6th Roxy Chicken Jam Europe from December 12 to 14, 2008. At the Glacier Park on Kitzsteinhorn at Kaprun, Austria, they will fight for the US$ 50,000 prize-money as well as vital points for the Swatch Ticket To Ride (TTR) Women’s World Snowboard Tour. The snowboard fest will find its suitable conclusion with the X-Mas masked ball at the Castle Kaprun.
The Roxy Chicken Jams at Kitzsteinhorn at the beginning of the season and at Mammoth, USA, at the end of the winter are two of only five 6-star events of the TTR Women’s World Snowboard Tour. And they are the only events that are only open for girls.
The list of the seeded riders proves that the Roxy Chicken Jam at Kitzsteinhorn is the highlight of the year for the female snowboarders: confirmed are the double Roxy Chicken Jam champion and 2005 TTR world champion, Cheryl Maas (NED), the 2007 TTR world champion, Torah Bright (AUS), the 2008 TTR world champion, Jamie Anderson (USA) and the 4th of the TTR ranking 2008, Kjersti Buaas Oestgaard (NOR). The locals’ hopes lie on Lisa Filzmoser (AUT) and Claudia Fliri (AUT) who was third at the Roxy Chicken Jam 2007. Plus, there are stars like Conny Bleicher (GER), Silvia Mittermüller (GER) Kimmy Fasani (USA), Meri Peltonen (FIN) or Lisa Wiik (NOR). In addition to the 25 seeded pro riders, five more riders will qualify at the open qualification on Friday, December 14.
The Glacier Park at Kitzsteinhorn is already open and will be further extended with each snowfall. At the event weekend, 16 obstacles and three lines will await the riders. Then, the Roxy Park at the Sonnenkarbahn will also already be open to the public.
With the Roxy Chicken Jam, winter goes finally off. And this has to be celebrated: at the X-mas masked ball at the Castle Kaprun on Saturday evening (9 pm), the participants will dance the night away wearing fancy masks and extravagant dresses while Innsbruck DJ crew Wax Wreckaz and DJ Enne (Nachtwerk/Munich) will deliver the beats.
