Ron Jon Surf Shop is looking for schools, colleges, and art galleries to participate in the Ron Jon Surf Shop Surf and Skate Art Exhibit next month at the Block at Orange. The company’s Orange, California location is promoting the arts through surfing and skateboarding, two signature sports for the world-famous surf emporium.
Surf and skate themes will be exhibited November 13 and 14 at Ron Jon Surf Shop at the Block at Orange, with special presentations by national surf artists and an awards ceremony a 3 p.m. November 13. Surf artist Drew Brophy and sand sculptor Jill Smith will be on hand to present their artwork, and photography by Aaron Chang will be on display.
Art and applications must be submitted at the store weekdays (9-11 a.m. and 3-5 p.m.) from October 26 through November 8; there is no fee to enter. Art may be done in any media as long as it somehow portrays the sport of lifestyle of surfing or skateboarding.
There are prizes for eight levels of competition in the Ron Jon Surf and Skate Exhibit: K-3, 3-6, middle school (7-9), high school (10-12), vocational/art school, college, amateur, and professional.
The Block at Orange is located on City Drive in Orange at the convergence of the Santa Ana Freeway (I-5), The Garden Grove Freeway (Highway 22) and the Orange Freeway (Highway 57). Parking is free.
