Carlsbad, CA – September 7, 2008 The Quiksilver/ Roxy Soccer Team celebrates a win over the Vans team at the Vitamin Water “We Got Balls” Action Sport Charity Soccer Tournament presented by Ray Ray LOVE, MyCharitableLife.com and Sideway Life Entertainment to benefit Mission Valley YMCA in San Diego, CA.

The attending teams and athletes donated autographed items that will be posted on the MyCharitableLife.com. All proceeds from the sales of the donated items will go to the Mission Valley YMCA.

It all began with a conversation between Terje Haakonsen, Ed Leigh, and Ray Palomino about hosting a tournament during the Euro Cup for their friends in the action sports world. In San Diego, California, USA, that conversation became a reality with the “We Got Balls” Soccer Tournament.

The Winning Quiksilver/Roxy Team

Quiksilver/ Roxy team riders Travis Rice, Bryan Fox, Erin Comstock and Alexis Waite along with Quiksilver’s Brian Craighill, Bud Seyedin, Jamey Beeson, JT Akers, and Guy Chanin dribbled through the competition that included notable names; Heikki Sorsa, Marius Otterstad, Leanne Pelosi, Jake Blauvelt, Molly Aguirre, Marco Frank Montoya, Annie Fast, Chris Cote, Don Brown, Steve Murray and Heather Rose.

The semifinal teams included Sole Tech vs. Vans and Active Ride Shop vs. Quiksilver/ Roxy. It was a hard fought battle with Peter Dericks making remarkable stops in the goal. A controversial ending to the Active and Quiksilver/ Roxy game placed the Quiksilver/ Roxy team into the finals.

After a ten-minute rest, Quiksilver Roxy walked on the field to face Steve Murray and his Vans Team. It was close, until Travis Rice, Brian Fox and Erin Comstock took over and finished strongly with a four – zero win.

“I am proud of the Quiksilver/Roxy team. We came together and had a great time!”, said Travis Rice.

Also making a strong presence, were athletes and employees from;: Active Ride Shop, Billabong, Burton Snowboards, DVS, Fuel TV, Mack Dawg Productions, Monster Energy Drinks, ProSoccer.com, Sole Tech, Sound, Surfride, The Program, Transworld SNOWboarding and Transworld Surf.

“I had the best time!” said Erin Comstock. “It’s was a great opportunity to compete with my friends outside the snowboarding world.”

The Quiksilver / Roxy Soccer Team will defend their “We got Balls” title in January 2009 at SIA in Las Vegas.

“It’s so on! My team will be back with a vengeance!” said Marco Frank Montoya.
Future soccer tournaments are planned for Las Vegas, North Shore, and Munich.
