QUARTERPIPE PRIMED AND READY FOR EVENT SEASON KICK OFF

Snow Park NZ has been building New Zealand’s only permanent quarterpipe this week to host the first daytime event of the season, the Electric Quarterpipe Battle held this Saturday, July 12.

The event is a free-to-enter jam style competition for skiers and snowboarders of all ages and skill levels. Riders and skiers will be judged on style and amplitude and will be vying for a $2,000 cash prize pool and $6,000 of Electric, Union and Snow Park NZ products.

“Early season at Snow Park NZ  is always a good time for riders to test their abilities and build confidence and we usually see some very impressive shows from many of the local riders” Sam Lee Snow Park NZ general manager said.

Snow Park is also encouraging participation from younger athletes aged 7 to 12. Groms have their own competition within all categories, with heaps of prizes up for grabs.  Snow Park team riders Will Jackways, Jake Koia, Louis Purucker are sure to give everyone a really good show.

Following the jam top skiers and snowboarders will go through to the final where they will need to pull off a succession of tricks, selected by the riders.  The finalists will be eliminated one by one as the tricks get harder and more creative.

Djs will be spinning tunes throughout the day to entertain the crowds and a tasty Snow Park  BBQ will be sizzling on the deck of the Woolshed Bar and Restaurant. Prize giving will follow the competition and a free after party featuring Downtown Broan will get underway in the Woolshed Bar.

Pre-registration has already started and will continue on the day from 9am, the competition is free to enter. The Electric Quarterpipe Battle starts at 11am.

Also this weekend, Snow Park NZ is offering $35 day passes to all season pass holders at other NZ mountains.  Now there really is no reason not to visit the park this weekend!

The Electric Quarterpipe Battle is powered by the generous support of Electric Eyewear and Union Bindings
