The premier snowboarding discipline, BoarderCross, returns to the USAwith the acclaimed SWATCH BOARDER-X WORLD TOUR. Now in its second year,the Tour features three spectacular events in three of America’s topresorts.

BoarderCross is best described as six riders simultaneously racing athigh speed down an extreme course containing huge banked turns, tabletopjumps, pyramids, spines and other obstacles. There are no judges ortiming, and the winner takes all! Created in North America and beingconsidered as a new Olympic snowboard discipline for the 2002 WinterGames in Salt Lake City, BoarderCross is the only competition whereAlpine (hard boot) riders compete on the same course with Freestyle(soft boot) riders.

The Swatch Boarder-X World Tour highlights such international stars asbad boy Shaun Palmer (USA), six time World Snowboard Champion BertrandDenervaud (SUI), flamboyant Laurent Besse (FRA), the Cinderella storyNillard Pilivakis (USA) as well as local riders and professionalsnowboarders from around the globe. The competition will be fierce asthe riders battle for over US $35,000 in prize money per event.

Sanctioned by the International Snowboard Federation (ISF), two of thethree events will be Master World Cups, the highest points rankingwithin the Snowboard World Pro Tour, guaranteeing that the world’s bestsnowboarders will be in attendance. For this season, each competition isstill open to all snowboarders.

Each competition will also feature a festival atmosphere with lifestyleside-events such as celebrity challenges, huge parties, live music,concerts, sponsor and snowboard industry demonstrations and promotions.

April 17, 18, 19, 1998 – Laax, Switzerland
