Ludlow, VT – A new generation of Super Pipe maintenance is shaping the future of the snowsports industry and high-flying action at Okemo Mountain Resort. Introducing the Zaugg Pipe Monster, it’s unlike any other pipe shaping equipment available. Considered the “Rolls Royce” of pipe grooming, it’s specifically engineered to produce a world-class Super Pipe and cut walls in excess of 22-feet in height. But the Zaugg technology won’t appeal to just world-class athletes. The Pipe Monster creates a smooth compression so pipe enthusiasts of any ability level can expand their skills and learn more tricks in a monstrous pipe.
The Zaugg attaches to the nose of a groomer and acts as a gigantic snowblower to expertly cut and shape a Super Pipe. The elliptical radius produces a cleaner cut, creates a smoother surface and reaches heights unattainable by other pipe grooming machines. Larger and smoother transitions to vert allow for more speed to achieve even greater height.
Okemo’s Super Pipe and Terrain Parks are the first to open in the East and hold the enviable reputation as a favorite training ground for world-class athletes. But, what really sets Okemo apart is the resort’s commitment to snowmaking and on-mountain terrain features. It’s the dedication and experience of the Mountain Operations staff that is on-site daily producing the best snow surfaces possible and are constantly creating new designs and terrain features.
Transworld Snowboarding Magazine recognized the talent and named Okemo one of the “Top Ten Overall Snowboard Resorts in North America” in its 2002 Snowboard Travel Guide.
