NORTHSTAR-AT-TAHOETM RESORT NOW OPEN FOR SKIING AND RIDING
TRUCKEE, Calif. – Nov. 19, 2010 – Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort, recently ranked among the top 10 resorts by the readers of Transworld SNOWboarding and among the top 15 in the nation according to the SKI magazine reader poll, opened for skiing and riding for the winter 2010-2011 season today.
Early season snowfall and consistently cold temperatures have allowed Northstar® Resort to run North Lake Tahoe’s largest snowmaking system, creating some of the best early season skiing and riding conditions around the Lake. The National Weather Service forecast calls for a storm system to move into the area tonight, with the possibility significant snowfall accumulations over the weekend.
The resort kicked off the season operating four chairlifts that provide access to six beginner and intermediate ski trails. The Big Springs Express Gondola, Arrow Express, Vista Express and The Big Easy quad chairlifts are now operating daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. A variety of terrain park features including boxes and rails are set up for freestyle enthusiasts to enjoy, and early season lift tickets are available for $55 for adults and young adults, and $25 for children ages five through 12 (under five ski for free).
Ski and snowboard lessons are offered for adults and children through the resort’s Ski & Snowboard School. Rental and demo equipment is available, and food and beverage locations at mid-mountain are open. Shopping, dining and ice skating (weather permitting) in the Village at Northstar have also resumed daily operations.
For those interested in skiing and riding all season long, the Heavenly/Northstar Season Pass is available for purchase through December 19, 2010. For just $379, passholders will have access to Heavenly, Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort, and for this season only, Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort (blackout dates apply).
Every day from November 28 through December 17, Northstar Resort invites first-timers ages 13+ to learn to ski or ride for just $49. This offer includes an all day (six hour) lesson, all-day lift ticket accessing beginner terrain and rental equipment.
