No Snow? No … Snow! Big Bear Mountain Resorts Update

Big Bear Lake, CA—Just in time for the holidays, Big Bear Mountain Resorts (BBMR) has been able to pump out a tremendous amount of manmade snow to create a winter wonderland on the slopes of Snow Summit and Bear Mountain. Two of the largest snowmaking systems in the Western Hemisphere have been operating at peak efficiency converting up to twelve thousand gallons of water per minute into snow.

“What we have lacked in natural snowfall this season, Bear Mountain and Snow Summit have more than made up for it with tons of snowmaking, providing what many people are calling ‘ego snow,’ stated Chris Riddle, Marketing Director for BBMR. “People planning to visit Bear Mountain and Snow Summit for the first time this season will be surprised by how good the conditions are, added Riddle.

With temperatures in the teens and low humidity, snowmaking operations have continued nearly nonstop to cover much of the resorts with a 12- to 24-inch base. Current weather and snowmaking conditions are available by calling 800-BEAR-MTN. With conditions and open runs changing daily, make sure to call the snow report or visit bigbearmountainresorts.com for the latest information.

Big Bear Mountain Resorts has nearly three times more terrain open than any other resort in Southern California, with a total of 14 lifts operating including four high-speed quads providing terrain for beginner to advanced skiers and snowboarders. At BBMR one lift ticket gives you more skiable acres with a free inter-resort express shuttle service to take visitors to and from both resorts.

Snow Summit has eleven trails available including Upper Westridge with fourteen terrain features such as jumps, rails and boxes. Miracle Mile and Summit Run are also open offering 1,200 vertical feet of terrain for skiers and snowboarders. Bear Mountain is open with access to thirteen trails including The Park run, which is open from top to bottom with more than 50 freestyle terrain features. A terrain park is also set up on Tenderfoot for low-intermediate level skiers and riders with a total of 8 boxes, rails and other terrain features.

Full services are available at both resorts including lessons, rentals, retail shops, repair shops, as well as bars and restaurants. Reservations for the holiday period are recommended and easy to make by calling 909-866-5841 or by visiting bigbearmountainresorts.com.

Night sessions will be held at Snow Summit throughout the holidays (except Christmas Night) from 3:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
