NIKITA CHICKITA USA 2009

Nikita Chickita USA 2009 is nearly here!  In it’s fifth year, it is still one of the only all-girls armature inclusive events in the world, a popular contest and a super fun day.  Chickita is open to all female snowboarders of all ages and abilities. The slopestyle competition will be taking place in Mammoth’s Unbound South Park on Saturday, February 21st.  The forecast is looking good and we hope to have Mother Nature on our side again this year with great snow and sunshine for the contest.

Online registration is still open so sign up before the kick-off date, February 21st, is upon us – https://www.signmeup.com/site/reg/register.aspx?fid=FQ2V8K7.  Last year’s winners Isabelle Lalive (Pro) and Alice Gong (Am) had an amazing time taking part, both on and off the slopes.  It’s a great time and all the girls really encourage each other. Nikita team riders Magalie DuBois, Vera Janssen, Gabby Maiden, Femke Henriques, Madison Blackley and more will be in attendance at this coming Chickita event.

Mammoth’s Unbound South Park staff will be doing a great job again this year making sure the park is in top shape.  The course will consist of 3 jumps with a larger and smaller takeoff option followed by 2-3 jibs in the lower portion.  Each rider will get two qualifying runs with the best score counted.  The top five Ams and top five Pros will advance, where all riders will compete together in the finals.  Riders will then be ranked and awarded according to their divisions.

Skilled judges will be watching out for rider’s use of features, ability and style.  There will be plenty of opportunity to show your flair and creativity at this comp.!

Event sponsors Nikita, plus DaKine, Osiris, Coal, Fender, Seychelles and BC Footwear, Luna Bar, Pom Pom, Lomography, Celsius, Flux, and Omatic are throwing down product for gift bags as well as the top 3 Am winners. Am riders will also be riding head to head competing for the year sponsorship with Nikita. Pro riders will be riding for the cash prize doled out that night at the awards ceremony. First prize will receive $1,000, second will get $700 while the gal with the best trick of the day will leave $300 happier. USA Media partners Venus Zine and Transworld Snowboarding will be in the thick of it so be sure to tune in.

The day will go as follows:

8:00 – 9:30 am Registration in Roma’s Room (level 3 Main Lodge)

10:30 am Rider’s Meeting top of South Park

11:00 am Game on ladies!

DJ Episode will wrap up the evening and keep all of Mammoth dancing the night away.
