Squaw Valley—Skiing, snowboarding, ice-skating, dining, dancing and live music are all part of the festivities during Squaw Valley USA’s numerous annual New Year’s Eve celebrations.
Revelers of all ages can begin their New Year’s Eve festivities with night skiing and snowboarding on the 3.2-mile Mountain Run, Bailey’s Beach, and the Belmont Terrain from 4-9 pm. The heated Cable Car provides access to the night terrain and all afternoon and full day lift tickets include FREE night skiing. At High Camp, el. 8,200′, guests also enjoy ice-skating until 9 pm.
Squaw Valley’s “mature guests can choose from a myriad of New Year’s Eve celebrations including the biggest party on the North Shore in the Olympic House. The Fresh Tracks New Year’s Eve party hosts three parties in one, with live music and house DJ beats in all three Olympic House bars. Partygoers can check out Mancub Geometrist (of the Space Cowboys) at Bar One, Blvd. at Plaza Bar, and Selecta Prime and High Grade Sound, Set 1 & Kat Lanky at Zenbu. Tickets are $15 and guests must be 21 & older with a valid ID.
At Le Chamois/Loft Bar, downstairs transforms into a dance club with DJ Motion Potion of the Fringe & Mutaytor spinning disco & funk all night long. Upstairs the disco ball will be spinning as well, and Stick & Juli will be serving drinks in the Loft ’til 1:30 am-ish. There is a $10 cover at the door. After 8 pm only guests 21 & older can attend.
An ideal New Year’s Eve alternative for early birds and families is the Mountaintop New Year’s Eve Dinner Celebration at High Camp, 8200′. The all-ages soiree includes a starry-night Cable Car ride, ice skating, a delicious prime rib buffet in the elegantly decorated Terrace Room, piano entertainment, and a 9:00 pm East Coast New Year’s champagne toast.
