Wrightwood, CA à‚ November 22nd, 1999 à‚ For Southern Californians, the 1999/2000 winter season officially begins tomorrow, Tuesday, November 23rd, with the opening of Mountain High Resort in Wrightwood. Their aggressive snowmaking has helped them to be the first local resort to open for the third year in a row. “Thanks to the recent drop in temperature, the snowmaking conditions have been tremendous,” says Karl Kapuscinski, General Manager. “Mountain High has one of the largest snowmaking systems in the country so weà‚¹re looking forward to a lot of new snow and a great Thanksgiving Holiday.”
Mountain High will be open from 8:30am to 10pm with three trails and up to two lifts in operation. The Blue Ridge Express, the areaà‚¹s new high-speed quad, will also be available by Thursday. Currently the resort offers a 12 to 18 inch base of fresh, machine made snow covering terrain for mostly intermediate skiers and snowboarders. Unlike other local resorts, Mountain High will open with introductory rates that will not increase during the upcoming holiday.
