According to NCEP and other agencies who track and discuss sea surface temperature anomalies and other patterns, we will be seeing a light El Nino pattern for the winter season 2001/2002. It looks fairly positive that we will see above normal sea surface temperatures (SST’s) based on recent trends in the SST forecast models. This leads us to believe that both temperatures and precipitation will both be good meaning fairly regular snowfall and for the most part good snowmaking temperatures. NOTE: The Pacific High should be a bit persistent early on (December/early January) with a few storms and cold, dry air in-between. This includes periods of dry Santa Anas which are actually great for snowmaking. Stay tuned for updates
