At the North American sales meeting for Gnu Snowboards, plans for the GNU Park Pickle were unveiled. The Patent Pending Proprietary Park Pickle Product will be included in the 09/10 Gnu Snowboard line. Based on the idea that heelside turns require more leverage than toeside turns, the Park Pick will have a deeper sidecut on the heelside. The board is a true twin shape with a centered stance so it can be ridden with either goofy or regular and includes Mervin Mfg’s exclusive use of Banana Technology.
Pete Saari, VP of Marketing at Mervin had this to say. “The Park Pickle achieves perfect balance through asymmetry, a deeper sidecut and asymmetric core on the heel edge balances your foots asymmetry and the different turn mechanics between heel and toe turns. Twin Asymmetric Banana Magnetraction design is the future of all terrain freestyle performance snowboards. Pickle Power!”
A limited run of 300 Park Pickles for North America will be built and released for sale to select Authorized Gnu Dealers in mid December.

isnt asym sidecut onlygood for racing? now i can really crank those heelside park turns…….

kinda seems like you’d have to reconfigure everything youre used to when turning on a board but who knows? everything mervin puts out that seems ridiculous ends up evolving snowboarding one step further. i’d love to demo one for sure.

mervin does not have exclusive use of banana dumbass.
December 3rd, 2008 at 6:45 pm
admin, you are studpid
December 3rd, 2008 at 6:49 pm
Santa Cruz has done this for a long time on their park boards and it works. No mervin did not invent this tech but it is proven to work.

Yeah, admin is ’studpid’ and you are ‘integillent’.

mervin has been coming up with such ridiculous stuff lately!
the year after banana tech was put on the market every single other company has developed some kind of reverse camber board too.
keep it up mervin, you guys are revolutionizing the sport
December 4th, 2008 at 8:21 am
how does this affect riding switch?
December 4th, 2008 at 11:20 am
dude jeff is right santa cruz has been doing this for a long time, mervin didn’t come up with the patent for reverse camber tech
December 4th, 2008 at 11:24 am
austin, your right… they dont have exclusive use of “banana dumbass”
December 4th, 2008 at 12:01 pm
not at all… unless you remount your bindings and flip your board when you ride switch….
December 4th, 2008 at 2:43 pm
So SC invented it, so what, Mervin will be the one the blow it up.
December 4th, 2008 at 3:24 pm
who the fuck has a difficult time doing heelside turns. honestly i love the shit mervins been putting out lately but this just seems unnecessary. i’ve never done a heelside turn and thought to myself “hmm that was kind of difficult why cant someone make it easier.”
pointless. another gimmick to be sold at sports chalet to the unknowing masses
December 4th, 2008 at 3:40 pm
SC wasn’t the first to put this out, back in the day (early 90’s) everyone was making asm freestyle boards. I had burton asm airs and sims asym freestyles, and nitro made a true-twin freestyle board with deeper heelside sidecut. SC didn’t even make snowboards yet…
December 4th, 2008 at 5:12 pm
oh, yeah. the burtons sims and SC’s were all based on the idea that your toes would be more towards the nose than your heels (offset sidecut, mot good for ducked stance, needed to but regular or goofy model) the nitro was like this new “pickle”. everything old is new again!
December 4th, 2008 at 6:15 pm
What’s Mervin’s next big breakthru, baseless bindings or two tongued boots? *rolls eyes*
December 4th, 2008 at 9:41 pm
snowboarding is getting stale. i don’t need gimmick boards. i need consistent snowstorms and free gas to get to the mtn.
December 5th, 2008 at 6:52 am
this looks ill as hell def gonna scoop one up.
December 5th, 2008 at 1:46 pm
actually they do, theres banana tech with a stiff tip and tail and reverse camber between the binding and then other companies use a full board length reverse camber
dumbass.
December 7th, 2008 at 6:02 pm
dont like that big pickle graphic, rather have a sick pic of harry potter
December 8th, 2008 at 2:09 pm
I’ll def. buy one and try it out. Can’t be too different from what they already have at GNU/ Lib-Tech though. Of course all the Lib heads will go nuts for this (limited to 300). Guarantee I can get my money back on resale or at least close if it takes of like the skate banana.
December 11th, 2008 at 11:22 am
scoop???? def need to go back to 5th grade it’s scope
December 11th, 2008 at 6:50 pm
Actually I think Nitro did on the Diablo….
December 12th, 2008 at 2:16 pm
I used to work at Mervin before they moved out of Seattle and Im telling you all right now that their technology is so sick. The guy who thinks of most of this shit just goes home, gets all jacked up on reefer and puts this shit down on paper. Magna Traction was thought up by spreading butter on a piece of toast. Baked technology. Everything Mervin does gets huge and copied by the masses. And Mervin could care less that they are copied, there a core company that has a rep that sells.
December 14th, 2008 at 7:52 pm
it actually is scoop. but hey, im sure the fifth grade was hard for you.
December 22nd, 2008 at 11:59 am
yo yo, get dem pickle$ outta ther, put $ome sweet pic$ of harry potter
December 23rd, 2008 at 3:01 pm
i tell u wat when i have to make a heelside turn i almost shit myself im so scared
January 2nd, 2009 at 12:20 pm
thats awesome
January 3rd, 2009 at 7:05 pm
justin
if you tried it you wouldnt think its a gimmick. its all about how much leverage you apply to your turn. with heelside turns you need to lean into it more than on your toeside to turn as sharp. try and get your hands on it and you will notice the difference
by the way artec made a asymetrical too.
January 5th, 2009 at 12:25 pm
What if you ride goofy?
January 5th, 2009 at 12:26 pm
Nevermind! my baddd
January 5th, 2009 at 8:38 pm
Flip the bindings?
July 14th, 2009 at 12:34 pm
dude its, I’m gonna go cop that board.
