Thursday, November 8th marks the official opening day of Mammoth Mountain Ski Area. Warmer than normal temperatures have hampered snowmaking efforts, but thanks to early season snowfall last week, Mammoth Mountain is planning on opening Broadway Express tomorrow, with limited coverage and numerous obstacles. With cooler temperatures predicted for the next couple of days, Mammoth will continue snowmaking, increasing coverage and opening more terrain as it becomes available.

To kick off the 2001-2002 season, Mammoth Mountain will be hosting an Opening Day Celebration on Saturday, November 10th. Skiers and boarders attending the celebration will be able to enjoy a champagne toast led by President and CEO of Mammoth Mountain Ski Area Rusty Gregory, snowman building contest, free ski/ride tips from the Mammoth Sports School instructors and live music from Heart Full of Soul on the Main Lodge sundeck. The official mascot of Mammoth Mountain, Woolly, will also be making an appearance on the slopes, anxious to get in his first turns of the 2001-2002 season.

Mammoth’s historical early opening dates, reliable ski conditions and the largest variety of terrain available in California make is easy to plan the perfect ski or snowboard getaway. Great early season lodging deals include Stay and Ski or Board Free and Stay and Learn Free packages from as little as $67.50 per day.
