Malay Day 2006

In honor and loving memory of one of the best snowboarders to ever ride the mountains of Colorado, Vail Mountain proudly hosts “Malay Day, Friday April 14th, 2006.

Josh Malay was a Vail team rider who lost his life while snowboarding in the mountains of Spain. His memory remains an inspiration to ‘live and love life’. Malay Day keeps Josh alive in our hearts and on Vail Mountain. It is a day that Josh would have loved— spring riding with friends, loud music, prizes thrown out to kids who are killin’ it and a fun after-party at Art’s Bar at the end of the day.

Malay Day kicks off Friday morning at 11:00 a.m. in Vail’s Golden Peak Terrain Park with a Pipe Jam, followed by Rail and Jump Jams. To commemorate one of Josh’s snowboard goals – “to destroy the mountain and everything on it a best overall “Destroyer (1 male/1 female) will be announced at the end of the day. He/she will each be awarded a 2006/2007 Vail Season pass.

Malay Day welcomes all ages/genders/disciplines. Participants can register for the contest at the Golden Peak Lodge at 10:00 a.m. Cost is $15 and gets you a t-shirt with Josh’s artwork and the opportunity to win cool prizes, compliments of some of the best companies in the snowboarding industry — Santa Cruz, Oakley, Sessions, Thirty Two, Spy, Vans, Technine, Section, Ogio and more. Kids under 18 must bring a parent to registration to sign waivers. $30 lift tickets available.

Proceeds of the day will go towards the design and construction of a special rail to be installed in the Vail Terrain Park next season.
