NORWICH, VT (June 7, 2010) – The town of Norwich, Vermont, and the greater Upper Valley Community of New Hampshire officially welcomed snowboarder Kevin Pearce home with a public celebration on the Norwich village green on Saturday, June 5, 2010.
Over 250 people attended the homecoming event, in which Kevin Pearce and his family expressed their gratitude and appreciation to neighbors, friends and fans who supported Kevin while he received medical care and underwent physical rehabilitation programs in Salt Lake City and Englewood, Colo., for an injury sustained on December 31, 2009.
During the day on Saturday, Kevin Pearce autographed pictures and memorabilia for fans who were delighted to see Kevin back on his feet, smiling, and in his hometown. Sponsors including AMP Energy Drink, Burton, Frends, Nike 6.0, Nixon, Oakley and Volcom gave away complimentary posters, memorabilia and merchandise to everyone in attendance.
“I am stoked to be back home. The day was amazing; I am grateful to be here and I feel very fortunate to have such an amazing family, friends and community. There is nothing like sleeping in your own bed and being with friends and family,” Kevin Pearce stated.
Kevin’s parents, Simon and Pia Pearce, are grateful their son has been able to return home.
“We are incredibly proud of Kevin and are absolutely overjoyed at the support our town, family, friends, and Kevin’s sponsors have shown us. This has been another triumphant moment in what has been a challenging yet remarkable journey in Kevin’s recovery,” Pia Pearce stated.
