DOVER, NJ, August 21, 2012– Casio America, Inc. is proud to announce the addition of pro snowboarder Kazu Kokubo as an official G-Shock athlete through the release of a thrilling film. Kazu’s technical and flawless riding skills are showcased by taking on some of the world’s most remote mountains and perfectly shaped halfpipes.
Check out the video here:
The journey begins near the Alaskan border in Northern British Columbia, at Last Frontier Heliskiing's, Bell 2 Lodge. The location is extremely remote and helicopter access is the only way into some of the best terrain in the world. After facing the best Last Frontier had to offer, Kazu continued onto Canada's most accessible heli-skiing location, Pemberton, British Columbia and end's his trip in Park City Mountain Resort, Park City, Utah where Kazu currently trains for competitions.
Kazu's snowboarding is synonymous with explosive style and technicality, stacking results and standing on the podium at the X Games, and the Burton Global Open Series in Europe, New Zealand and Japan including two consecutive US Open of Snowboarding championships. A crowd favorite both in his home country of Japan and abroad, his technical expertise makes him a perfect fit for the G-Shock brand, known for its seamless blend of toughness and technology.
"Casio G-Shock is delighted to sponsor Kazu Kokubo," said Shigenori Itoh, Chairman and CEO of Casio America, Inc. "Kazu is a true world-class talent with a passion for the sport of snowboarding. His dedication to mastering the sport on the mountain and commitment to his community, both near and far, makes him a perfect representative for the G-Shock brand."
While Kazu continues to not only win championships, but simultaneously seek out and ride the biggest mountains for the most famous snowboarding photographers and film makers in the world; he spends his very rare free time, working on his one acre garden alongside his wife Tomoe and volunteering in his home country of Japan with the animal rescue group, JEARS of which a portion of proceeds from his signature products go to support.
"I have been a fan of G-shock since I was a kid and can't wait to start working on my first watch design. G-Shock is everything in a watch that I try to have in my snowboarding, toughness, style and technical."
Kazu joins a talented list of action sports athletes on the G-Shock roster. G-Shock recognizes their dedication to the action sports community and helps them to tap into reaching their full potential by providing rugged, technology driven timepieces that fit their needs.
