Vashon, Wash. (May 23, 2005) — K2 Snowboarding has responded to the rumors and it’s official that Shaun Mckay has been promoted to the K2 International team. Shaun is a local Washington kid who grew up riding at Snoqualmie Pass back in 1994. K2 signed him in 2002 and he has been getting it done since day one. Shaun earned his spot on the international team after two solid video parts in Neoproto films’ “Neoproto and “Everyday Something, and years of coaching at HCSC.
Shaun is currently filming for Neoproto’s third film “Some Kinda Life. He has been on a constant mission since early October filming and shooting in Austria, Japan, Italy, Colorado, Tahoe, Washington and Idaho.
“Shaun more than deserves to be at the international level, says Ryan Runke, K2’s International Team Manager. “He has the best attitude, work ethic and product ideas not to mention he is an amazing snowboarder with real natural talent. Shaun is always down to do whatever it takes to get the shot or to get a kid stoked on snowboarding. I’m excited to work with him for the next several years at K2. He is exactly what I am looking for in a team rider.
Shaun is riding the K2 Darkstar 160 and the K2 Formula bindings. Other sponsors include 686, 32, etnies, Dragon, Active Ride Shop, Defcon Gloves, Airblaster and Snoqualmie Mtn.
“K2 has been around since forever and they’re part of the local snowboarding culture where I grew up, McKay said. “They have a team of good riders who are fun to hang out with and they make great products. I’m super happy to be involved with the brand.
