America’s Top Female Motorcycle Racer to Debut at Mid-Ohio
Former Professional Snowboarder and Kawasaki Team Green Rider, Jessica Zalusky, takes center stage as the sole woman to race at the AMA Superbike Championship at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, in Lexington, Ohio, August 4-6. Dragging knees and muscling a motorcycle around a 2.4 mile course with 15 turns with top speeds of 170MPH, Jessica is the “Queen of Speed!”
A few years ago, you would not find Jessica racing motorcycles at 180MPH on hard pavement, instead she would have been boosting out of a halfpipe, spinning 720′s and catching big air! Jessica Zalusky, former professional snowboarder, began a new challenge in 2002, professional motorcycle roadracing! Jessica has been compared to her counterpart on four wheels, Danica Patrick, as they both pave the way for women and motorsports.
Jessica’s early beginnings in 2002, landed her a career as a professional motorcycle road racer. As a first year pro racing in the infamous AMA Superbike Championship, racing in the Pro Thunder and Supersport classes, she scored herself a remarkable 9th place finish in the Pro Thunder Championship.
As the primary woman since 2002 to race alongside the men in the AMA Superbike Championship, Jessica will be racing in both Supersport and Formula Extreme classes. Jessica has quickly become the fan favorite at the races, attracting thousands and thousands of fans where ever she races! Being the only professional woman to race alongside the men in a male-dominated sport in the last few years, Jessica has caught the attention and racing world by storm!
At Jessica’s most recent AMA Superbike stop, Miller Motorsports Park, June 16-18, Jessica finished strong in the 20th position in the Formula Extreme class along with the 32 position in the Supersport class. Currently in the Formula Extreme Championship, Jessica is in the 37th position amongst a field of 97 men.
As an accomplished professional snowboarder, Jessica competed at the highest level in snowboarding, scoring her two 4th place finishes at FIS World Cups along with finishing 5th at the USSA Grand Prix Championship (Olympic Qualifier) to name a few.
Along with being a professional roadracer, Jessica is s a supported Kawasaki Team Green„¢ rider. Team Manager Reid Nordin said “Zalusky is a skilled rider and brings a positive message to pro motorcycle racing.”
“Jessica is an inspiration and an incredible role model,” said Nordin. “More and more women are riding bikes, and Jessica’s story will demonstrate that women can enjoy motorcycling in both recreational and competitive environments.”
Zalusky’s goals for the season include a top 10 finish in Formula Extreme along with finishing in the top 20 for the Championship. Her ultimate goal, however, is to win an AMA road racing championship.
With her accomplishments on the race track and her ground breaking role as a pioneer for women and motorcycling, Zalusky has been compared the like of Danica Patrick. “Motorcycling is a great pastime in and of itself, and I’d like to do for road racing what Danica Patrick has done for car racing,” said Zalusky. With all the excitement of women and motorsports, Zalusky is sure to win the hearts of both men and women, both young and old!
“I hope that my racing will allow women to realize that there are no barriers, other than the ones you create for yourself. I also hope to reach out to young women, to inspire them to chase their dreams and to let them know that they can do anything.”
