Contour Expands Snowboard Team, adds Jeremy Jones, Torstein Horgmo and Sammy Luebke
Nov 11, 2010 – (Seattle, Wash.) – Contour, a market leader in the hands-free video camera category is excited to announce the addition of pro snowboarders Jeremy Jones, Torstein Horgmo and Sammy Luebke to its global athlete team.
Jones, Horgmo, and Luebke represent three of snowboarding’s most well-known and respected athletes. Each will be paired with the new ContourGPS, the first hands-free video camera to incorporate real-time GPS data while shooting high-definition, 1080p video. Exclusively using the ContourGPS, they’ll record and post their epic snowboard adventures and travels to Contour’s location-based video community, www.contour.com.
“Jeremy, Torstein, and Sammy are the ideal ambassadors and athletes for us,” said Dan Strickland, Contour’s Director of Partnerships. “Of course they all have unbelievable skills, but they’re also fired up about “location-aware” POV video. Their collective back-of-beyond mentality is a great showcase for our new GPS camera. It’s going to create some jaw-dropping video for our online community.”
Jones is legendary as the best all-around big-mountain rider of his generation. Noted for lightning fast descents down Alaska’s burliest mountains, his recent decision to forgo snowmobiles in favor of hiking to access remote locations was documented in Teton Gravity Research’s film, Deeper.
With a recent (and the first) landing of a triple-cork, Horgmo established himself as one of the most gifted riders in the world, pushing the progression of snowboarding through the execution of seemingly impossible technical tricks in both the park and pipe. He’s won numerous awards including a Gold medal for Snowboard Big Air at the 2008 Winter X Games XII and a 1st in Slopestyle Final at the 2009 Winter Dew Tour.
Luebke is a versatile all-mountain charger, whose skill and style in tough conditions and terrain landed him the opening segment in Standard Film’s The Storming. Hand-plants, kickers, pillow lines, and ollies with full grab are all part of his repertoire as he continues to work with Standard films and ride with his friends from Tahoe to Valdez.
A rugged camcorder for the estimated 100 million outdoor enthusiasts around the world, ContourGPS makes it easy to capture video from within the action and share it online in seconds. Recently recognized as an Innovations Honoree at Consumer Electronics Show and now shipping worldwide, ContourGPS ($349.99 MSRP) joins the company’s award-winning ContourHD model ($279.99) and is available at REI, Amazon, Helmet Camera Central, and POV Cameras.
