The top North American judges from the US and Canada underwent the 2nd annual IJC certification process on July 5-10, at Mt Hood at Windellís Snowboard Camp under the guidance of Greg Johnson the IJC Development Coordinator and Tom Wagener the IJC World Wide Chairman with Jason Grossi and Jay Moore assisting. As the main goal of the IJC is to better train judges world wide, this five day judges clinic covered all elements of freestyle snowboarding including straight air, quarterpipe and halfpipeÖand the addition of a Freestyle Technical Supervisor component. The certification exam covered all aspects of judging high level Pro events and was composed of a written test and a in-depth video practical exam. Thirty-one Pro snowboard judges received Pro Judge I through Pro judge III status.
The camp was very successful in training the Pro judges for the upcoming season as well as laying the foundation for a more consistent judges training program for upcoming regional and Pro instructors. This group is the only recognized group in NA that has gone through a rigorous training program as well as holds the majority of experience in the field of snowboard judging through various high profile events including the US Open, ISF World Series, GP’s , X-games and Olympics. Special thanks to the USSA, the USASA and the ISF for assisting in formation of the clinic. The judges below are the most qualified to judge snowboard contest in NA and internationally this upcoming season.
