ACCLAIMED PHOTOGRAPHERS, VIDEOGRAPHERS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS GET “IN THE MOOD” FOR THE 14TH ANNUAL SKI & SNOWBOARD MULTIMEDIA EVENT ON DECEMBER 3, 2009
A Benefit for the Tahoe Forest Cancer Center and Tahoe Community Christmas
[Squaw Valley USA] November 7, 2009 – Action snow sport photography and video from around the world highlight the 14th annual “In the Mood” benefit for the Tahoe Forest Cancer Center. Admission to the “ski and snowboard action multimedia event” is free. Attendees are encouraged to bring donations of canned food for the Tahoe Community Christmas. “In the Mood” takes place Thursday, December 3, at the Resort at Squaw Creek in Squaw Valley.
“It’s seldom, if ever, to see this type of talent under one roof,” says prolific ski photographer Hank deVré, whose imagery is annually featured in Powder, Ski, Skiing, and Ski Journal. “Their images are today’s forefront of snow sport photography.”
The evening program showcases the talents of the biggest names in adventure photography and video. Acclaimed artists include filmmakers Mike Marvin, Scott Gaffney, Craig Beck, Tom Day, Mike and Dave Hatchett and Brad Holmes. Nationally recognized photographers include Tom Lippert, Keoki Flagg, Niobe Burden, Court Leve and Hank deVré.
“After all these years the event has grown from a cozy crowd to attracting over 600 people,” says Robert “Fro” Frohlich, President of Snowtribe Productions, a cancer patient, and co-organizer along with Hank deVré for the charitable evening. “It’s a fun party, a celebration of the coming of winter, and a great way to give back to the community.”
All ages are welcome to this free event. The show begins at 6:30 pm and beverages are available. A huge raffle with over 150 prizes is also part of the night’s festivities. Grand prizes are a Squaw Valley USA adult season pass and Chugach Range heli-skiing at Points North in Cordova, Alaska. Other prizes include local resort day tickets, Pacific Crest Snowcat adventure, snow sport equipment, overnight lodging packages, gift certificates and hard and soft good outdoor gear.
A highlight of the event includes a tribute to the late Squaw Valley resident and legendary adventurer Shane McConkey. Evening co-hosts are Resorts Sports Network’s Todd Offenbacher and Tahoe TV’s Eric T. Brandt. The Resort at Squaw Creek also hosts an after-party, beginning at 9 pm in Sandy’s Pub. Discount lodging is available the night of the event. www.squaw.com/book-early-and-save
