Following an impressive snow year for the Vancouver mountains, Grouse Mountain is winding down the season and getting geared up for the closing weekend of April 10. To finish the season off with a bang, Grouse Mountain will be hosting the 04 WindDown ShowDown. This pro/am event will feature the top local shredders in the amateur railjam along with some of the top pros from Whistler and Vancouver in the Film Crew Showdown. This unique format will hopefully prove, once and for all, who is the top local film crew.
Ten crews will be duking it out against each other on the course built of ten features. Each feature has a cash amount up for grabs that is donated by the feature sponsor. In the end, any crew can walk away with winning every feauture as well as taking home the Top Crew prize of $1000 and an OGIO golf bag for each winning crew member. $1000 will also go to the Top Rider of the day.
Invited crews include: Alterna Action Films, Brainwash Cinema, Gathering Collective, Defective Films, Whiteout Films, Skids, Cashless, Gnar Core, Crapneto, Shot in the Dark, and a handful of free agent crews. Each team will consist of 5 of the top riders from their crews that have been honing their skills all season and are very ready to shred Grouse for the final weekend of the season.
For the event Grouse Mountain will be super sizing the Advance Park to build the biggest and baddest course it has ever constructed. The ten features will consist of the OGIO twin city hips, the Atomic S Rail step-up, the Mission Six/ Grenade step-up flat-down, and Endeavor’s booter/rail stepup combo.
The amateur railjam will be featuring some of the top local shredders and skiers in both the Rookie Park and the Advance Park. The advanced riders will have the opportunity to ride part of the pro course before relaxing and watching the pros duke it out in the afternoon.
Stay tuned for post event results, photos, and video.
