Almost everything that happens in snowboarding in the summer happens at Hood. For everything else, there’s Southern California. You’ve gotten an earful from us lately on the goings-ons in Hood. But man, here come the So Cal movie premieres, tradeshow, Summer X-Games, and more shred-energy than a bottle of ephedra.
Last weekend Burton and Gravis got the party season started in their new showroom in Irvine, California. So Cal Gravis rep Domonique Kiernan organized an art show called Cats and Canaries. She says, “We just wanted to have people out to see the new showroom and show Gravis’ continued support of art in the industry.” Gravis has always had a strong connection with artists-just look at the footbeds inside those shoes of yours.
The artwork included a collaborative project between Kelli Bratvold and Carla Naden; Micheal Page’s contemporary Clayton-brothers-inspired works; Darryl Pierces’ gritty street art; and a variety of pieces by Domonique Kiernan, Ryder Robison (from the band Vaux), Devin Ryan, Errol Nolan, Sam Shipley, Silverstein, Sam Kwestin, Kelly Stebly, and Jon Strieby.
The party ended the week-long Burton Summer Sales Meeting, so all the industry heads and plenty of Burton and Gravis riders like Anne Molin Kongsgaard, Kelly Clark, and Shaun White showed up to check it out.
The Burton sales meeting is usually in a way more exotic locale than Irvine, California. Better luck next time, Burton peeps.
