Granite Peak Bans Snowboarders From “Skier Only” Terrain

Beginning this season, Wisconsin’s Granite Peak Ski Area will be restricting access to three of its runs to skiers only. The resort, which boasts five terrain parks that president and owner Charles Skinner says are used almost exclusively by snowboarders, has been hearing from a “growing chorus of skiers requesting a few ’skier only’ runs,” says Skinner. “Skiers have told us that the rhythm, turn radius, and visual orientation is different for skiers and snowboarders, and that they would enjoy a few runs dedicated just to skiers. We are now responding to this request by the dedication of three runs for this purpose.”

Wow, just when G.P. couldn't get any worse, they take mile long step in the wrong direction. I now am ashamed to tell anyone that I ride there. Thanks alot Granit Peak, you're in the spotlight of biggest assholes worldwide now that Transworld has your number. G.P.S. crew is gonna rep real hard this year.

Well, where are the snowboarder-only trails then, huh? They said themselves it's different for skiers AND snowboarders, so why do skiers get exclusive trails and snowboarders don't? That doesn't make any sense.

All snowboarders should stop going there if possible. Boycott those fags. Do they desrve to profit off snowboarding when they pull that stuff. Down with Granite Peak. All snowboarders should spread the word and make it your mission to bring them fools down.

Hey totally awesome dude. You must be smokin' the "420" (another reason to ban snowboarders). I dont normally read transworld but this was the thegoat.backcountry.com blog. Every one of the comments here prove the reason to ban snowboarders. Skis can carve much less into snow the a huge snowboard. Nice try on changing the subject. Wow, I have to say that I am incredibly shocked at GP. Somehow I thought they were above something like this……Just because a few skiers complain that snowboarders are in their way, they are now considering taking runs from people who pay the same price for lift tickets and have just as much passion for their sport. We could say just the same about skiers….they are always getting in our way….and I'm quite certain they wouldn't dedicate "snowboarder only" runs. My family and I are ALL boarders and enjoy spending time as family on both the east and west side runs, especially on crowded days and cold ones. These runs also provide some of the best tree boardin' and are the ones being considered to be banned. If they go ahead with this plan, we certainly shouldn't be expected to pay the same price. And If I were a skier, I'd be embarrassed to be seen on one of those runs. Doesn't this seem like a step in the wrong direction??
