Oceanside, CA, December 20, 2001: The world’s most recognized snowboarders will gather Thursday, January 31 during the Snow Sports Industry Show (SIA), at the House of Blues inside The Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The reason? A new SIA schedule brings an earlier date for this year’s annual TransWorld Snowboarding Riders’ Poll Awards to honor the best in the sport. TransWorld Snowboarding, TransWorld Snowboarding Business, along with SIA, Durasurf, Atari, and Kahlua are presenting this year’s awards show.

Professional snowboarders from around the world have cast their votes for their peers in seven categories to select their choices for the most respected and influential riders. Readers of TransWorld Snowboarding have also filled out ballots to select their favorite riders for the Readers Choice Awards. After the awards are given out, expect nothing less than Vegas-style entertainment as Social Distortion plays for the crowd, thanks to the Session, Etnies, 32, and Gortex after party. It’s guaranteed to be an event in itself with surprises throughout the evening.

The Riders Poll is the original action-sports-industry awards show. Last year, ESPN’s Selema Masekela hosted the wild evening that drew a crowd of over 2,000. It was decadence and controlled mayhem; once again proving snowboarding is still as young and vibrant as ever.
